2000 Toyota Tundra 4.7 Have A Interference Engine
Ive heard it is and that it isntlol pretty sure after 04 came gen2 47 VVT.
2000 toyota tundra 4.7 have a interference engine. The 2UZ-FE engines are almost bulletproof the most reliable and durable engines from the Toyota corporation. CARspec had the chance to replace the timing. In comparison to non-interference engines interference engines breathe better because the valves can open earlier close later and open wider.
I have a 2002 Tundra Limited with the 47L. My dealer told me he sees timing belts break with no enginevalve damage. This 32 valve dual overhead cam motor has a cast iron block and aluminum cylinder heads specifically designed with increased durability for use in pickups and SUVs like the Toyota Landcruiser Sequoia and Tundra.
An interference engine is one that has insufficient clearance between the valves and pistons if the cam stops turning due to a broken timing belt. Timing belts are costly and at 194000 miles it should have had its second one at 180000. 15L 1A-C 3A-C 3E.
All the vvti engines are interference engines which is why Toyota moved back to chains instead of belts. I bought it with 165000 or so Ks. Can any body tell me if the 47 V8 is Interference or non-interference.
The Toyota and Lexus 2UZ-FE 47L V8 is the gold standard of reliable mid-sized iron block V8s. ALL 47Ls are interference engines. 20L DOHC Interference.
Are interference engines better. I have a 2010 60th anniversary 47 litre V8 petrol Land Cruiser. Many say it is interference engine others say they have had timing belt break replace it and it is fine.
