2000 Toyota Tundra V8 What Octane Gas

I have only used 87 Octane and on our first long trip got about 23 miles to the gallon we have the V6.

2000 Tundra pinging My truck started pinging only under load andor heavy acceleration after 100K and long after the headers and KN installation. The truck has not died since then but the idle is still low and acts like it want to die. System not compatible with E85 fuel.

It runs upto about 1500 rpms and then dies. I have replaced the fuel filter and two fuel pumps with new strainers. I have checked the fuel pressure while it is runnning and it is about 15 psi and about 5 psi with ignition on.

89 or 91 pure gas doesnt net me any better mileage than the 87 pure. Absolutely no pinging or knocking. Posted on May 12 2010.
