My 2007 tundra has also done this since day 1 and I think the tundra has a defect here and needs a TSB to come out to resolve this known problem. Insert the new filter and place the cover back on. My 2010 tundra has only 20K but has done this stinky smell ONLY on defroster or AC since day 1 so I know it is not I think my original still cabin air filter.
